THE WORK IN INDIA

How it all began

During 1996 my wife and I felt it was the will of God for us to go to Punjab, North India to preach the gospel. Although we knew no Christians there we knew God was with us.

By faith we arranged a two-day meeting in a village. A tent was set up and I preached and my wife translated. I did as God told me and that meeting is well known to many church leaders in the area to this day!

Not long after this we met a Pastor from a Pentecostal Church. Within a short time after walking into his home the Holy Spirit witnessed with in me that he was filled with the Spirit. Today he heads our ministry
in Punjab.

Land of Coconut Trees
During October 1997 while reading a Christian newspaper Pastor Jandu came across a picture of coconut trees and green waters. Immediately he received a witness from the Spirit that one day he would be going to a place full of coconut trees to preach the gospel. Convinced he had heard from God, he cut the picture out and placed it on his desk as a reminder that one day he would visit a place covered with coconut trees.. He immediately told his wife what God had told him. Initially they felt that this mission would probably not take place for another 5 or 10 years. Instead God had planned a quick work. The Immanual Pentecostal Church (IPC) in Kerala, South India were praying that God would send someone from overseas to help them. God had confirmed to them through a prophetic word that He would send someone.

Around this time Pastor Jandu began to receive letters from IPC church who had received his address from a Pastor in India. This Pastor had received it from a Sister in England who had come to India
for a holiday. Ironically Pastor Jandu had met this sister, for the first time, the day before he and his wife left for India in 1996. That meeting was surely a divine appointment.

He accepted their invitation to come and help them. Upon arrival to Kerala and seeing the scenery He realised that this was the place God had told him he would come to preach. He learnt that the name 'Kerala' actually means 'land of coconut trees'! On his second trip to Kerala this year he flew into Trivandrum and looking out of the window he could see a carpet of green coconut trees. The whole land was full of these trees. Without doubt God wants to do a mighty work in India. The main aim of the mission was to impact the people in a way that they would receive a greater desire for revival. The foundation for this was laid and we are working on building a ministry to the people in India. We are expecting a great revival!

Leaders and workers conference
During October 2000, we held our first conference for leaders and workers. The conference was hosted by Pastor Williams, the director of our ministry in Kerala. Approximately 250 Pastors and worker attended from throughout India. Many testified to being totally transformed by the conference. This historic conference brought together leaders that had not worked together for many years.
We fully expect the Lord to bless the New Wine Conference in the future. Appeal

The heartbeat of Harmit Jandu Ministries is to play a part in fulfilling the commission Jesus Christ to preach and teach the gospel in all of the world. We believe Matthew 28:19,20 is a 'Commission Possible.'

During 1997 the Lord spoke to Pastor Jandu and instructed him to go to other nations and teach the gospel. Since then doors have opened in India and he fully expects the Lord to fulfill the word He gave. Churches in other nations have also been helped by this ministry.
